A nice addition to freezing cookie dough: you always have fresh cookies at home! Well, almost then, because you still have to bake them for a while. But imagine: visitors come by unannounced; you take your cookie dough out of the freezer and bake a batch of delicious fresh warm cookies. They never want to leave, believe us.
Freeze cookie dough if the pros:
Make balls into it
Make a large cookie dough ball to freeze. But even better: make small balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with baking paper, and place them in the freezer. Allow the balls of dough to freeze for 30 minutes to an hour then remove the frozen balls from the baking sheet and put them in a closed freezer bag or freezer box. This must be completely airtight. This tip is especially useful with coarser cookies such as chocolate chip cookies.
Or a long sausage
You can also roll a long sausage from the cookie dough. Wrap it well in plastic wrap and close the ends, like a candy. As soon as you remove this cookie dough from the freezer, you can cut slices of it to bake cookies with.
Do the administration
To prevent you from looking at the contents of your freezer with a question mark above your head: label the bag or container with the date and type of cookie dough on it. As well as the baking time and temperature (if you know this).
How long does cookie dough stay in the freezer?
The cookie dough stays good for a maximum of 4-6 weeks.
Newsflash: no defrosting is required
And finally: frozen cookie dough does not have to be defrosted when you bake it. Just bake it 2-3 minutes longer than the original recipe indicates.
